Dear Students & Parents,

Hope this message finds you all well!

Time flies, the holiday season is around the corner and the 2014 Chinese New Year is on its way. As we all know, the Chinese New Year is the most important of Chinese traditional festivals. It displays the most colorful aspects of Chinese culture, so celebration of the Chinese New Year in the Twin Cities will be an opportunity for us to share our unique culture with the American public and to motivate the young generation and interest them in learning about the Chinese language and culture.

Celebrating the Chinese New Year is a traditional annual event within the Twin Cities Chinese communities. The 2014 Chinese New Year (马年) celebration event will be held on Saturday Feb. 1st 2014 (大年初二) at Wayzata Central Middle School. The event will include activities, games, New Year’s dinner, performances, and ballroom dancing. In order to offer our Chinese community a centralized opportunity to celebrate, more than 30 local Chinese committees and organizations have joined together to contribute to the festivities.

To ensure quality planning for this big celebration event, to make sure it’s enjoyable and memorable for all audiences, and to provide a volunteer opportunity for high school students, we are recruiting volunteers to helping prepare for this event.

Attached, please find the 2014 Chinese New Year celebration event Teen Volunteer Application. If interested, fill it and send it back to us ASAP; we’ll conduct a teen volunteer meeting with task assignments once we’ve received your application.

If you have any questions, please email us, or call at 952-288-7282.

Thank you and wishing you all a happy holiday season!
